The Brief
In 2019, Outback relocated their Head Office to a brand new high tech facility in Uxbridge, comprising 15,000 Square feet of warehouse and office space. This was a significant exercise as Operations Director Stuart Cooper notes “ we started with a shell and needed to build the internal offices, canteen, washrooms and mezzanine floor; fit out the warehouse, install power, security, CCTV, AV infrastructure and completely upgrade our IT and telecoms.”
Key to the project’s success was ensuring that the cabling, IT and telecoms would be completed in time for the relocation of staff planned to take place over a single weekend.
This required fitting out a new Comms Room; installing new cabinets, network switches, over 150 points of Cat 6 structured cabling in a complex environment; implementing dedicated Ethernet Internet services & deploying LiquidV, the latest in Hosted IP Telephony.
What We Did
As Stuart explains “given the scale and business critical nature of the project ,we felt that Interface Advantage was our best bet for all aspects of our voice, Internet and cabling requirements, their approach and attention to detail gave us great confidence”
Outback had suffered from slow, intermittent broadband, so the move to Uxbridge was the perfect opportunity to install the latest in Software Defined Network (SDN), technology in the form of Interface’s LiquidE 100Mb Ethernet line. Configured with a voice Vlan this also enabled the seamless transition to Interface’s Hosted I/P Voice service.
Interface agreed a conditional order with Outback, so pre work and survey could commence in parallel with the final phases of negotiating the lease on the new building. “Interface’s flexibility meant that we were ahead of the game from day one, indeed the Ethernet line itself was installed within a week or so of us getting the keys to the new building” says Stuart. “We even had local WIFI so could work on-site during the fit out phase”.

Our Summary
After completing the cabling and building out the Comms room, Interface rolled out the new phones over the target weekend, enabling Outback to vacate their old premises on a Friday afternoon and have fully working, phones, internet and IT at Uxbridge on the Monday morning. Existing telephone numbers were ported across and professionally recorded Out of Hours and On Hold Messages were uploaded to complete the set up.
The LiquidE Ethernet line has banished poor Internet performance and Outback have now implemented a proper VPN between their London and Birmingham sites, so that cloud based applications can be fully adopted to drive business efficiencies.
Stuart.“Interface achieved our project aims on time and within budget despite some considerable challenges along the way. Our new integrated voice and internet services are now a business asset now rather than a problem, overall we are very pleased with the results”
